They were astounded at his teaching.

Because he taught as one who had authority.

Were they like us just searching.

Sometimes frail , at other times full of tenacity.

He taught.

Not as one of the scribes.

By whose teaching are we taught.

Theirs was surely like our lives.

We feel constrained

By modern scribes

By conformity tied.

Where are the new exciting vibes.

Perhaps what attracted was the freshness.

And hopefulness.

For it had authority
