Thursday, 19th Week in Ordinary Time, 2020

How often must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me?
Not seven times I tell you but seventy-seven times.
Of course all this we can clearly agree with and see.
Except that we don’t do it, we ignore the mind’s resentful signs.

How much of our life is spent in resentment.
He or she is not pulling their weight.
Something they shouldn’t have has them been lent.
Why are they always late.

And so the mind circles, it is never happy.
Why can’t others be more like I .
It’s all kind of scrappy.
And of course it’s all a lie.

So I will settle down and not worry about others.
And five minutes later my promise is in tatters.
