Sonnet

They offered Him a piece of grilled fish.
Which He took and ate before their eyes.
So simple a thing, to offer, just a dish.
But the eating of it by Him would defeat all lies.

If He walked into the room this instant.

Would we our disbelief recant.
Or demand He eats a bit of toast.

Would we ask to touch His tortured wounds.
And stand amazed when He actually ate before our eyes.
And dispel from our minds all those questioning hounds.
Would truth in an instant dispel all the world’s ties.
