Sonnet
We walk the long road oblivious.
Our thoughts meandering along the way.
If only we looked about ourselves to the obvious.
If we listened more to His voice by night and day.
He is mindful of His covenant for ever.
This is the true lasting mindfulness.
He walks always beside us, leaving us never.
But we do not recognise Him in our emptiness.
Our hearts should burn within us at words so said.
As He explains about Himself in all of scripture.
But only mindful at the breaking of the bread.
Do we recognise Him after His gentle lecture.
And will we then rush to tell our companions.
And slay for ever our minds’ dragons.
Haiku
He walks beside us
Do we then recognise him
Or listen to truth
