Friday of Week Twenty in Ordinary Time . 20 August

Wherever you go I will go, wherever you live I will live.
Your people will be my people and your God my God.
Are we prepared ourselves to strive.
Will we have cared enough before we are put under the sod.

When an ‘Inspector calls’ as in the play.
Will we pass muster.
Will we hide our responsibility , what will we say.
Are we not all responsible, we will be found, we cannot scatter.

When yesterday I saw it on television.
I was transfixed by the play’s drama.
I realised how lacking we all are in vision.
We all contribute to the World’s trauma.

If people work for us in a dangerous country.
We cannot say we are another country.

Another Country
Is also our country too
We are one country
