He sat down opposite the Treasury.
A widow came and put in two small coins.
Sometimes we are lost in our breviary.
Forgetting what really are useful joins.

This evening I could not remember .
what had been said at mass today .
Just other people as a recalled ember.
I could not keep irritation at bay.

We all think that we put in a lot.
But we only put in what we have to spare .
Others put in a lot more thought.
But fellow feeling is all too rare .

Let’s not what what others are doing.
And think more on what we are missing.

……….

Others do their thing
Just let them get on with it
It’s all to the best
