Are our doubts laid.
Or held up by some rational dam.Then Simon Peter spoke up.
You are the Christ , son of the living God.
But can we taste faith’s overflowing cup.
Are we like Peter convinced and awed.

You are Peter.
And on this rock I will build my church.
But we of course do not have the faith of Peter.
We will never build any church.

But at Mass today, these words, I believed.

And felt strangely inspired and relieved.
