He took the bread and gave it to them.
And their eyes were opened and they recognised him.
It was as if he was giving communion to them.
And when we receive it, do we recognise him.

Every mass we walk the road from Emmaus.
We listen to his preaching.
Giving eternal truths to us.
To the altar rail approaching.

We do this so often.
We take it so much for granted.
Our faith fails to ripen.
And his sacrifice too little lamented.

But he walks with us.
He is there for us.
