No good tree bears bad fruit.
Nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit.
Where lies our true root.
To what end our life’s pursuit.

Figs are not gathered from thorn bushes.
Nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush.
Do we help to build bridges.
For what do we really push.

The good person out of the treasure of his heart.
Produces good.
And the evil person produces evil from his heart.
His mouth speaks to no good.

On rock, do we build our house
Or on shifting sands, do we scurry like a mouse.
